One week since PBIM.
Three runs.
First post PBIM run was on Tuesday, 9km Udini Seaside route.
Second & third at Technoplex Loop, about 8km & 10km respectively.
Want to record the latest run, just this evening at Technoplex loop. Since I didn't do an LSD this weekend, I decided to compensate with a little speed.
Lap 1 2k 2k 12:25 12:25
Lap 2 2k 4k 11:38 24:03 ** fastest lap, <6min/km
Lap 3 2k 6k 12:01 36:04
Lap 4 2k 8k 12:03 48:08
Lap 5 2k 10k 12:33 1:00:40 ** possibly mein fastest 10k??
OK. Why I want to jot this down is b'cos I'm kind of suprised I can maintain the pace. Of course I was huffin and puffin, but I was not maxed out or anything. If I continue to train like this, likely I would be able to break that 1-hr 10k barrier.
And of course, the mindtune for fast runs is Shakira's "Hips dun lie". Getting rather old, but can't think of a better beat than that, haha.
BTW, post run weight is 150.4 lbs. Haha! Yea I gained 16 lbs over 8 months, or average of 2 lbs per month. Morale of the story is: "Don't stop running!"
OK adios.

PBIM 2008
In other words, Penang Bridge International Marathon.
How pathetic I've become this year. This is mein first roadrace of the year.
So? Just one race in 2008? Sad...
Anyway, I registered 2 weeks prior. And started training at the same time.
Yes, folks. Training for a half-marathon in two weeks. I should write a book about that.
One week before the run, I ran a 3-hour workout. From E-gate to Batu Maung via Queensbay, and back. I thought that would be enuff.
Come race day...
1. Non-existent crowd control into the "kandang". Lucky didn't turn into a stampede
2. Started 4:25 am, 5 mins earlier
3. Hey, free power bar en-route to the bridge.
4. Nice wind north-easterly wind
5. OK pacing so far
6. Good downslope running after midspan
7. Hey, 100plus refreshment... my fav.. burp.. burp
8. u-turn on the mainland
9. Cool! can do fajr prayers at the toll office
10. return leg slowly went kaput
11. up midspan and down, still ok
12. Sea of orange! 10k fun-runners in front making their u turn
13. Traffic jam!
14. Oii! If u wanna walk, walk to the side la
15. Oii! If you're sprinting dont make sudden stop la. At least sprint to the side first
16. Run-walk at this point. 1 or 2 minute walk, followed by 7 min run/jog
17. When will this race end? Semput with having to negotiate so many walkers
18. Reach near Queensbay, started final run at 500m
19. At 300m almost giveup.. harhar... so unfit
20. Finally at the finish
21. Confusion! "Sini nombor, sini tak dak nombor". Oii, next time put signboard la.. Nearly went into the fun-run chute.
22. Finish!! Time is 3:31:24.. over cut-off but yaay still get finisher's medal. My worst ever PBIM run, kinda expected, with the 25k distance, plus undertraining.
23. Usual post-run ritual: re-water, watch other runners finish
Last note. The incident of the day - one frustrated runner stopped by the "300m to go" sign, took out his camera, held out his hand & gave "the finger" to the sign, and snapped a pic.
OK, that's mein race report.
Now one day post-race, feel gegel again. So what's next? Johor Malakoff 25k 21 Dec?
